'Space diver' to attempt first supersonic freefall

A "space diver" will try to smash the nearly 50-year-old record for the highest jump this year, becoming the first person to go supersonic in freefall. The stunt could help engineers design escape systems for space flights.

On 16 August 1960, US Air Force Captain Joe Kittinger made history by jumping out of a balloon at an altitude of some 31,333 metres. "I stood up and said a prayer and stepped off," he recalled

New generation technology

Have you ever dreamt about the day you can buzz around in your very own flying machine? Well, that day may be sooner than you think.

The folks at NASA have built something called “The Highway in the Sky.” It's a computer system designed to let millions of people fly whenever they please, and take off and land from wherever they please, in their very own vehicles.

And here’s the good news -- a lot of people are building machines you’ll be
able to buy.

Moths personality "ISAAC NEWTON"

Sir Isaac Newton changed the world. Born in 1643, Newton was only an above-average student. But he went home from Cambridge one summer in 1665, thought a lot about the physical nature of the world, and came back two years later with a revolutionary understanding of mathematics, gravitation, and optics. A Professor of his, upon understanding what Newton had done, resigned his own position at Cambridge so Newton could have it. Newton's calculus provided a new mathematical framework for the rapid solution of whole classes of physical problems. Newton's law of gravitation explained in one simple formula how apples fall and planets move. Newton's insights proved to be so overwhelmingly powerful he was the first scientist ever knighted.

Oil prices

Oil prices rose slightly on Friday with gains capped by weak energy demand in the United States and worries over the strength of China’s economy, the world’s biggest energy-consuming nations, traders said.

New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for March delivery, climbed 11 cents to 76.17 dollars a barrel.

Brent North Sea crude for delivery in March gained 22 cents to 74.80 dollars a barrel.

Veer Movie

One of the most awaiting films Salman Khan starrer Veer hit the screens on Friday. However, the film critics are not very pleased with the film and thus, haven’t written much in the film’s favour. Such a thing has irked Salman Khan who has went ahead to appeal his fans not to refer the critics verdict.

Salman Khan posted his thoughts on social networking site saying, “I tell you critics are paid and they can’t be a better judge than audience. So, please go and watch it. I boycott critics and request you not to go by the reviews and they are just good for nothing. I promise- Veer won’t disappoint you.”

Woman kills Boyfriend by Sitting on Him, A WOMAN weighing 136kg has pleaded guilty to killing her much smaller boyfriend – by sitting on him.
Police in Cleveland said Mia Landingham and Mikal Middleston-Bey, who have three children together, got into an argument in August.
During the altercation Landingham sat on Middleston-Bey, who weighed 54.4kg.
Landingham was sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours community service on Wednesday after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, Fox8 reported.
She was immediately released from jail.
Her attorney told said there was a long history of domestic abuse in the relationship. He asked Judge Carolyn Friedland for leniency and pointed out she has no prior criminal record.
Landingham she was sorry for squashing the father of her children.
“I just want to say that I am sincerely sorry about this situation. I wish I could take it back,” she said.
During Landingham’s sentencing, her boyfriend’s family spoke of the pain she has caused their family.
“I just want to let you know how much you have hurt us by taking Mikal away from us,” said Sharon Phillips, the victim’s step-mother.
While Middleton-Bey’s family hoped Landingham would eventually be able to take part in her children’s lives, they were surprised that she got no additional jail time.
“So basically you can say that I can go sit on somebody and get probation?” said one of the victim’s sisters.

IPL Issue To be Raised in ICC: Jakhrani

IPL Issue To be Raised in ICC: Jakhrani, Rumors to tighten-up grip on Ijaz Butt and to bring Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the rule of Ministry of Sports were ruled out as Federal Minister of Sports Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani said “we want to improve every sport in Pakistan including cricket, that’s why we would like to work closely with PCB”.
After the meeting with the PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt at National Cricket Academy, Ijaz Jakhrani said that the chairman Standing-Committee Jamshed Dasti should not have used harsh words regarding the leadership of PCB. He said that Indian government is involved for insulting the Pakistani cricketers in IPL-3, and Pakistan would raise the issue in ICC.
